The Beach was the third area on the World Map to be opened.
There are some sound effects at the Beach. Hovering your cursor over the ocean gives a wave sound effect, the Whuddle boy a laugh, the crab a series of castanet sounds and the Tiki Hut a brief drum sequence.
There is An Empty Hut here that has no function.

There are three shops open at the Beach: Shirt Shack, which sells T-shirts, Lenz N' Go, which sells sunglasses and hats, and Surf N' Stuff, which sells swimwear, beach clothing and other related items.
